Upon successful completion learners will receive a CA Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) compliance package, including a printable PDF of the Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) certificate issued by National Career Education Center (NCEC). COURSE INFO
  • 100% online, self-paced study
  • Each module includes assigned homework from Foundations for Community Health Workers, a Video Lecture, and a Knowledge Check
  • Employees gain insights directly from the textbook authors through embedded videos, reinforcing key concepts
  • Instructional Design of the course developed by a team of public health professionals and active CHWs
  • Instructor of Record minimum qualifications include a Master’s of Public Health and experience working as a CHW
  • Most folks complete in about 100 hours includinghomework. Its roughly equivalent to a 6-unit class, and can be completed in six hours a week over a traditional 17-week semester timeline
  • Providing 1 paid hour a week for a cohort to have a study group is a great way to incentivize successful completion
  • Employers can easily modify the length of time for course completion. We recommend at least 16 weeks and not longer than 6 months

  • Current job or incumbent worker in community health (e.g., Community Health Worker, Patient Navigator, Case Manager, Health Educator, etc.)
  • Supervisor’s email needed to verify work experience

  • Device: A computer with a keyboard and mouse/trackpad (not built for touchscreen-only devices)
